The Danger of Doubt: Lessons from Thomas' Unbelief
Sep 15, 2024 • Dr. Samuel D. Tootle III
The Danger of Doubt examines Thomas’s struggle in John 20:24–29 and the subtle way doubt can erode faith when trust is replaced by the demand for proof. This study shows that doubt, whether emotional, volitional, or intellectual, often grows in seasons of fear and uncertainty when believers shift their focus from God’s sovereignty to visible circumstances. Jesus’ response to Thomas reminds us that faith is not built on sight but on trust in God’s promises. Believers are called to resist doubt by anchoring their confidence in the risen Christ, even when evidence is unseen.
