Do you love me more than these?
Apr 23, 2023 • Dr. Samuel D. Tootle III
After the resurrection, Jesus restored Peter by asking him three times, “Do you love Me?” Each question confronted Peter’s failure and called him to a deeper, sacrificial love. Jesus linked love to obedience through the command, “Tend My sheep,” showing that true devotion expresses itself in service. He revealed that Peter’s renewed love would one day lead to a costly obedience, even death. When Peter asked about John’s future, Jesus reminded him that discipleship is personal with the command, “You follow Me.” This passage calls every believer to examine their devotion and place Christ above all competing affections, following Him with undivided loyalty.
